15 Months

Owen had his 15 month appointment yesterday and he is a tiny little thing! 20 lbs 14 oz! He is 31 1/2 inches long. I am just trying to get more milk, cheese, etc. in him and less juice. It should be easy since he loves his whole milk!
He is walking (has been for about a month now). He "talks" all of the time. He says "ball", "kitty cat", "dog", "Daddy", "thank you", "bye bye", and is finally adding "Mommy" to his vocabulary! If you ask him what the kitty cat says he says "eow" and if you ask him what the dog says he pants (if you know Striker, this is very fitting!) He doesn't do any of this in front our friends and family of course- just when know one is here to watch!

He is not too sure of the big pool at IHCC yet but loves his baby pool. Here are a few recent pictures of Owen enjoying his summer at home...

Time for a Haircut!

I have avoided this day as long as I could! Owen was in desperate need of a trim and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Finally, I gave in, and we made a trip to Gildas.
See??? He needed a trim pretty bad!
Amanda showing him what she was cutting

We kept him busy with books and cookies!
The end result...he looks so grown up!
Owen with Amanda- she has been doing my hair since my freshman AX days (a really long time!) Thanks Amanda!
Owen discovers spinning in the chair is much more fun than sitting still!

California Trip

Better late than never right? I have been so busy already this summer and it doesn't look like its slowing down. I am trying to cut out Owen's morning nap so I find myself really busy during his afternoon nap and blogging hasn't been the top priority:) So far, cleaning out closets and rearranging furniture has been keeping me away from the computer.
My mom and I were lucky enough to join Ashley (my new sister-in-law) on a work trip to Monterey, CA. She works for Coastal Living magazine and we went to the Cooking for Solutions event at the Monterey Aquarium. We had so much fun and it was so nice to get away! Kevin (with Pops' help) did a great job with Owen. I especially loved the pictures and video texts I got all weekend! What did we do before Iphones and Skype (I only skyped with them twice). :)
Anyway, here are a few of my favorite pictures from our trip to Monterey!
Look at the cute Sea Lions (tiny black dots)
Ashley, me, and Mom in front of the Lone Cypress on the 17 mile drive

Pebble Beach!

This was right before the waiter told me "They were setting up for a big event they have called the US Open." Ok, I may be from Alabama but I know what the US Open is!
Sitting in the clubhouse at Pebble Beach
We stopped for a shopping break in Carmel...such a cute town!
At one of our stops along Hwy 1- amazing views the entire way! (The wind was blowing THAT bad and it was very cold- but who cares when its this pretty?)

Lunch at Nepethe in Big Sur
At the Cooking for Solutions Gala with Sam Choy (He was so nice and his food was so good!)

In the Wave Tunnel at the Monterey Aquarium

Setting up for the Seafood Challenge- isn't the view amazing? (Not to mention all of the fun kitchen gadgets!)

The secret ingredient reveal- Arctic Char

Amazing to watch him debone the fish so fast!

Dinner at Passionfish for my 30th! So fun!

Where did May go?

May flew by and I did not get one post on here! Our house was really busy and the time just got away from me. I turned 30 on May 3 and we celebrated with my parents and Tucker and Ashley. Here is a picture of Owen enjoying some time with them before they had to get back to Birmingham.

We also got a baby pool for Owen to enjoy in the backyard for the times we can't make it to the big pool. He LOVED it. Unfortunately, the canopy on this pool would not stay on and it was exchanged the next day for the cheap, plastic kind that seems to make him just as happy.

My mom and I were fortunate enough to join Ashley on a work trip to Monterey, CA. I will be posting pics from that trip soon. I also got 18 four year olds graduated and ready for Kindergarten! It was a busy month! School is out and Owen and I are enjoying some time at home. Stay tuned for a California post...
