Cabin Fever and a Quick Surgery

We made a quick trip down to see Pops' new hunting land a few weeks ago. The land came with an old log cabin and amazing views. The house that we sleep in is about 20 miles away but the cabin will make a fun "day" spot. The land was beautiful and as always Owen enjoyed being outside. The cabin is really neat inside (although could use some modern amenities and furniture). We had a great time riding around and seeing everything. Owen even got his first pair of camouflage pants to wear!

This past Friday, Pops and Gigi took Striker into the vet for a good bath. We got a phone call an hour later and apparently Striker needed surgery to remove a Hemotoma (not sure how to spell that one) on his ear. Surgery went well and he was home that afternoon. We went ahead and had his teeth cleaned while he was "asleep". Needless to say our vet bill was a little more than the $15 we were expecting. Owen was sure to give Striker some extra love after his bandage came off!

Owen is doing so well sitting up now. He shows no interest in crawling and I am fine with that! We are having some trouble with his blocked tearduct (as you can probably tell in these pictures). His eye is looking a lot better now than it was over the weekend. Dr. P gave him some new drops to try today so we hope to see results soon!

September Pics

This month has flown by! Football has dominated our weekends (but I am not complaining!!!)Here are a few random pictures from the past few weeks.

Labor Day

First trip to campus to tailgate

Owen is sitting on the sign for the 1971 SEC Championship team (Pops' was on that team!)

Owen and Pops in front of Bryant Denny

Owen's first (of many!) meals at the Alpha Chi house. Girls, if you haven't been, you HAVE to check out what they did over the summer. It looks beautiful! And to think...all we wanted was cable tv in our rooms!

All of the tailgating wore him out.

Watching the game over at Gigi and Pops.

Owen has started sitting up (pictures soon) and drinking from a sippy cup. He is loving the baby food he has tried. His favorite food so far seems to be Bananas and like his good friend Trent, he loves Banana Mango. He is teething but still no tooth. I keep thinking it will be any day now.

Hope everybody has a great weekend!

It's a Girl!!!

It's a girl! My cousin Kristina FINALLY had her baby almost two weeks after her due date. They did not find out if they were having a boy or girl so I was so excited when she finally arrived! We are so excited about Georgia's arrival and cannot wait to meet her! Enjoy a few pics and a sweet video!

Savings Post!

After reading my friend Dana's post, I finally decided to try diapers.com. I know I am probably the only person not already shopping here, but I have just found that I get pretty good deals using coupons around town. They have tons of baby stuff and it was nice to shop from my house while Owen napped. :) One thing I really liked about diapers.com is that they automatically apply manufacturers coupons to your order. I used Dana's referral code and saved another $10. Add all of this to free shipping and it is a no brainer to me! Here is my referral code if any of you want to save $10 on your next order- MARG8697. Happy shopping!

6 months and Game Day

Owen is 6 months old today and I can't believe it! I was told a thousand times how fast time seems to fly when you have babies but wow- it really does!

A few things Owen is doing right now:

Teething!
Sleeping 12 hours a night! (no complaints here)
"Talking" all of the time
Laughing a lot (especially at Daddy)
Loves his bath time
Becoming a lot more interested in Striker and Buffett
He weighs 15.10 pounds

A picture of him getting ready to eat breakfast this morning.

As everybody that reads this blog already knows- today begins BAMA football season! Owen celebrated yesterday by wearing his team's logo to Spirit Day at school. (These pictures were taken on my phone so excuse the bad quality.)

We have been getting into football mode around here today. Owen was so excited to get out his Alabama bowl! Roll Tide!!!

Busy Week

The past two weeks have been very busy at our house. Owen and I made several trips to my school to get my classroom ready. He played (and slept) so well in his pack n play but next year will be a different story. I have already told Gigi to block out some time the week before school starts to babysit while I get my classroom ready. Not to mention the fact that our school board turns off the air at noon everyday! Here are a few pictures of him playing in my classroom while I attempted to get ready for my students. This should be an interesting year, instead of my normal 1 or 2 students that don't speak English, I have 4! The past two years my ELL students have both spoken Middle Eastern languages- I am thankful this year it is Spanish. I at least know a little Spanish and the teacher down the hall from me is fluent and can help me communicate with them.

A picture of Owen and I before we went to meet his teachers at his new school

First day of school

Owen did great his first day (and so did I). I only called to check on him once. His teachers have already told me that he spends a lot of time "talking" to everybody and loves to talk to himself in the mirror. I hope this does not continue when he is in the older classes!
